Revised: 11/18/09 *added site plan requirements
PDF version of the items below (and jpeg photos of the physical items) are required to be uploaded to the course server immediately after the review for evaluation. Make sure to follow the file-naming protocol established earlier for the photoessay assignment.
(1) Urban scale site plan or figure ground plan @ 1/64” = 1’-0” scale. Show context beyond the 1/32” site model.*
(1) Massing model @ 1/32” – 1’-0” scale w/ individual context model.
(1 min.) Concept Diagram(s) @ appropriate scale
Relevant to aid in explaining the ideas.
(1 min.) Program Allocation Diagram(s) @ appropriate scale
context, site, program, circulation etc. relevant to aid in explaining the ideas.
(if applicable) Miscellaneous Diagram(s) @ appropriate scale
Relevant to aid in explaining the ideas.
(All levels) Plans @ 1/8” = 1’-0” scale
(3 min.) Critical Sections (longitudinal and transverse) @ scale of 1/8” = 1’- 0”.
Include adjacent streets and buildings (as solid cuts) to indicate scale and spatial conditions of the context. include scaled figures, trees and landscape elements if applicable.
(2 min.) Building Elevations @ 1/8” = 1’-0” scale
Lightly render w/ shade and shadow. Include adjacent streets and buildings (as solid cuts) to indicate scale and spatial conditions of the context. include scaled figures, trees and landscape elements if applicable.
(1) Exploded Axonometric Drawings of Building Envelope @ 1/8” = 1’-0” scale
(3 total) Perspectives: (exterior and interior)
Exterior view of the proposed building showing the relationship between the building and its context. Interior views highlighting the most compelling interior spaces of the building.
Include evidence of function/use of space as well as information about materials and natural light.
(1) Building study model @ 1/8” = 1’-0” scale.
Indicate façade materials and details. Take apart to reveal important interior information.
(1 for the studio) Group Site Model @ 1/8” = 1’-0” scale.
Existing adjacent buildings to include façade details as given in site elevation drawing included in project syllabus and roof shape. Designed to accommodate the below grade construction.

Specification for the presentation: all 2D drawing items to be organized to fit with in (72"h x 94"w) of wall area. This is equivalent to (2) sheet of 36"x94" drawings (landscape format) stacked vertically. You are to graphically compose the sheet to be seen as a whole.
Pay attention to the following drawing conventions for this studio:
Architectural plans and sections are orthographic scaled line drawings of cut profiles and elevations beyond the cut plane.
All drawings must be clearly legible as black and white line drawings. Use (3) - (5) line weight to effectively and economically articulate the drawings. Cut profiles must be shown with heaviest line weight - No poche
Indicate doors, door frames, glazing, window frames and mullions, stairs, stair railing, etc both in sections and plans.
Pattern/texture the prominent surfaces lightly both in sections and plans. Distinguish inside from out and walking surface from open to below (shown as x's).
Orientation of plan drawings must be consistent.
Indicate a north arrow (in plan) and graphic scale.
Program spaces in each plan should be identified by legend (keyed).
Context must be shown at the ground level (adjacent buildings as solids, roadways, curbs, landscaping, hard surface, soft surface etc) both in sections and plans.
Structural grid lines (dash-dot) indicated lightly both in sections and plans.
Indicate building elements in the foreground of the cut plane with dash lines, both in sections and plans. Indicated building elements beyond the cut plane in lighter line weights, both in sections and plans.
label the drawings
You must have a code compliant egress system
Section cuts must be indicated on all plans
Vegetation must be indicated convincingly in plan and section
Furniture essential for function of rooms must be shown both in sections and plans.
