Jim Sullivan is an Associate Professor of Architecture, Director of the Research Office for Novice Design Education, and Undergraduate Coordinator at Louisiana State University’s School of Architecture, where he teaches foundation design studios. Professor Sullivan holds a Bachelor of Environmental Design from Miami University (Ohio) and a Master of Architecture from University of Pennsylvania. He is a registered architect and has practiced with Joseph Rykwert, Bernard Tschumi, Alexander Gorlin, Hariri and Hariri, and Hanrahan and Meyers, among others. In addition to teaching, Professor Sullivan is the principal of the firm Louisiana Architecture Bureau (LA-ab). The firm’s work is most recently published in Metropolitan Home.

Exterior view of the proposed building showing the relationship between the building and its context. Interior views highlighting the most compelling interior spaces of the building.
Include evidence of function/use of space as well as information about materials and natural light.
Physical Models:
Massing model @ 1/32” – 1’-0” scale w/ individual context model.
Building study model @ 1/8” = 1’-0” scale + Group Site Model @ 1/8” = 1’-0” scale.
PDF version of the items above (and jpeg photos of the physical items) are required to be uploaded to the course server immediately after the review for evaluation. Make sure to follow the file-naming protocol established earlier for the photoessay assignment.

A reduced scale presentation print to fit (1) 11" x 17" sheet for faculty studio walkthrough
Sketch Files:
The sketch file is a collection of process sketches, prints models etc for the whole semester. Bound or assembled them in chronological order with binder clips. Must include items from project 1.

Portfolio: “Percival Stern” and “Dance School”
8.5” x 11” format, portrait or landscape, to include:
Cover Page containing your name, course information (Third Year Design Studio DSGN 310, Fall 2009), type of document (portfolio)
presented with a)cover page for each project (optional) b)introductory text description (max. 200 words) outlining major design ideas c)annotated diagrams relevant to the project d)site / location plan(s) e)building plans, sections and elevations (including any program keys, graphic
scale, drawing labels) f)renderings g)select model photogaphs [NO BLURRY IMAGES] h)any other information / material relevant to the project. All images / illustrations should be labeled; keep in mind that you must make your projects clear to anyone unfamiliar with the semester’s work. The portfolio should be bound or assembled with binder clips.
