Digital Folio
Digital Folio:
All sketches, diagrams, drawings, process models and other materials you have produced in this course must be digitized, catalogued and uploaded to the course server folder.
The quality of the digital-folio is paramount as I will review the uploaded materials for grading. The completeness of your documentation will be part of the final evaluation. Grades will not be issued without a complete digital folio as indicated in the course syllabus.
Upload the digital files to the course server folder created specific for this GRADUATE STUDIO (not on TSA public server) on the following ftp site
To access the DSGN3100FA14-GRAD folder
a) Point your ftp client to: ftp.arch.tulane.edu (make sure the port 21 is open)
b) Username (login): tsastudent Password: ktstudio
Follow the file-naming protocol as indicated below:
Uploading files must be named in the following format:
(Last Name)-(Exercise# - drop decimal point)-(Image Name - abbreviate if possible and #) .file extension
i.e.) for an axonometric drawing scanned as a JPEG for Ex4.2: Yourlastname-42-axo1.jpeg
Documentation Format for the Models and Full Scale Constructs:
Submit hi-quality photographs (use cameras with minimum of 5 mg-pixels).
Products to be photographed on gray or black background with two light sources, a directional lighting source to cast good shadows and an ambient lighting source to lighten up the shaded area. Pay attention to focus. Use tripod. Blurry image will not be accepted. Files to be .jpeg format compressed to 1.5 mb - 2 mb. Following views are suggested: all elevations, (2) areal views (minimum) from opposing direction and critical details as required. Study models should be arranged in sequences if taken in a single shot.
Documentation Format for the Drawings:
Digital drawings should be in pdf, file size optimized to be no more than 3.0mb.
For mechanical (hand drafted) drawings and sketches, scan @ 150 dpi in original size and save in Jpeg compressed (mid-quality) to 2.0mb - 3.0mb.
When photographing your drawings, you must use a diffused northern light or indirect light to lit your work evenly. Use a tripod w/ low shutter speed to compensate for the low light level.
Avoid excessively large files - maximum to be around 10mb or less.
